How would you suggest to cool down a bit during the day? What
about a juicy, cool and sweet taste of watermelon, what can be better in
the middle of a hot summer day?
I’m always wondering how people pick those perfect watermelons, seems
like almost everyone knows how to do that except me! Can you pick a
really-really good watermelon in a bunch of those?
Anyhow, here’s some tips that may bring you closer to a perfection.
1. Field spot
Watermelons have spots, those are field spots. The color of those
spots vary from white to orange-yellow, and the last one is the best!
2. Webbing
The webbing of a watermelon says about an amount of times that bees
touched the flower. So, the more, the better (read – sweeter).
3. A boy or a girl?
Have you known watermelons have genders? So you can distinguish them by
their shape the taller one and more elongated is a “boy”, and more round
and stout is a “girl”. Their insides are a bit different too, boy
watermelons are more watery, while the girl watermelons are sweeter.
4. Size
Size matters! It is not the case when the bigger one is 100% better,
or small, no. Just average, my friend! The average size is okay!
5. Tail
This one my mom taught me a long time ago. So, the best watermelon is
with the dry tail! In other cases, it indicates it was picked too soon.
